Gucci celebrates 90th anniversary by opening its first museum at Florence

Considering that mid-September is the best time to visit Florence, you have an added reason to go there now. As Gucci turns 90, the luxury brand has an amazing plan in place to celebrate the event in style. In a bid to boost their brand image, Gucci has just opened its first museum in a Florentine palazzo. In a gala opening celebration at the Piazza della Signoria, Gucci’s new exhibit will be on display at the 14th-century Palazzo della Mercanzia that will span across three floors. Read more »

Alexander McQueen exhibit in the Metropolitan Museum beats the attendance record

The retrospective of the famous British designer Alexander McQueen in New York’s Metropolitan became one of the most popular exhibits in 140 years of museum’s operation. Organized by The Costume Institute, the exhibit featured McQueen’s work starting with his Central Saint Martins postgraduate collection of 1992 and up until his final runway collection after his death in February 2010. Read more »

Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit in Montreal until October 2011.

The Parisian couturier Jean Paul Gaultier has recently opened his grand exhibit “Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk” in the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, which will be displayed until the beginning of October. The extensive exposition features the designer’s most renowned creations, including the iconic corset from Madonna’s 1990 Blond Ambition World Tour, and a leopard dress which took the designer 1060 hours to create. Read more »
