Shoes for Autumn 2011 Posted by Lora Berezovska in Fashion Trends |
It is time to renew the wardrobe - start the season with the right shoes! What style are we wearing this fall? As always, designers offer plenty of trends to choose from. Instead of buying a mass of different shoes, it is enough to select just one new pair – but the one that wins your heart!
Let’s consider what material is fashionable right now. Although leather has always been in, designers prefer soft suede as a more feminine and elegant alternative. Suede is a very gentle and delicate material, which needs to be worn with care. Masterfully crafted shoes from designers: Christian Louboutin, Alexander McQueen and DKNY demonstrate beautiful colours and texture.

Another trend is lacquered leather. This ultra fashionable shoe comes in austere, dark colours and especially classic black. Designers: Giambattista Valli, Givenchy and Alexander Wang present excellent varieties of lacquered shoes.

The time of super-high and fantasy-form heels has passed, and the heel is back to its normal length. Stable heel shoes of a medium height, as well as spike heels are popular now, as in the designs of Jason Wu and Brian Atwood. The 1960’s trend is fashionable, which means a return to straight, wide heel. Comfortable shoes with heels that support the leg can be found in the collections of Jean-Michel Cazabat, Mulberry and Derek Lam.

Wedgies are popular once again. The shoe designs are relatively simple, with the exception of wedge colour, which tends to be different from the rest of the shoe. For the most part, however, the wedgies fit with the material of the shoes. They are comfy, sturdy and cool, just what you need for the season. Shoes on classic wedges are presented by designers: Michael Kors, 3.1 Phillip Lim and Stella McCartney.

The main event of the season is the comeback of pointed-toe shoes. Everything from boots to shoes became pointed. This style of 1990s expresses classic femininity, which requires elegant clothes with strict silhouette lines and clear-cut forms to match the shoes. Avoid any notion of romanticism and flamboyance at the risk of looking vulgar. Designers: Balmain, Jimmy Choo and Emilio Pucci offer a variety of pointed-shoe designs.

A contrast to the feminine style is the androgynous trend of tough and strong character. Stern combat boots and a variety of military style shoes have been popular for a while, but now the trend became a chic sensation in fashion. Designers: Chanel, DKNY and Burberry Prorsum offer a collection of grunge shoes that look awesome with bohemian dresses and romantic skirts.
After a wave of radiant colours in shoe fashion, the black is back in style. Austere black shoes and boots are devoid of any elaborate form, but some designs are enhanced with minimalist ornamentation. Designers Christian Louboutin and Giambattista Valli offer classic fall designs.

Of course, the colour could not be avoided this season. Colourful shoe designs inspired by the 1920s constructivist movement add mood and vibe to the seasonal collections. This trend combines multiple colours with simple geometric forms. Note that the more dynamic and colourful the shoes are, the simpler and more monochromatic the clothes should be. Multi-coloured creations can be found in the collections of Aperlan, Bally and Manolo Blahnik.

According to designer Anna Miminoshvili, the most outstanding shoe trend is the variations on the masculine style. Sturdy, manly shoes can still look elegantly feminine on a platform or high heel, rendered in lively and surprising colours.
Contrasting colour combinations in shoes are especially in vogue this season. Green and orange, red and blue, olive and purple will look extraordinary with fashionable warm stockings. To visually elongate the legs, wear stockings that accurately match the shoe colour.
Choose quality shoes that best suit your wardrobe and lifestyle. If you want to get the most out of autumn, it is essential to have some sturdy, comfortable and weather resistant shoes. Have a productive and pleasant season!
